Fairness or Favoritism

Sports is a major part of our family’s life. Since our two sons were five and seven, they’ve played either soccer, football, baseball, basketball, or flag football. Did they have a choice? Well, not really. With a father who played sports all of his life, the boys were pretty much born with athletic blood running through their veins. Dad passed his exceptional knowledge and skills of sports on to our sons.

As previous homeschoolers, sports was used not only for physical education, but character building, which was a major part of our curriculum. It wasn’t until our first born was enrolled in public high school that we noticed a shift in our character curriculum. Instead of integrity and fairness, we met injustice and favoritism.

We're looking forward to college sports for our child. We KNOW there is a brighter day coming! Could it be worse? Whatever the future holds, our job is over when it comes to being our sons' voice. We taught them well and not only do they know to respect their coach regardless of the situation, they know how to be the voice of their own children one day.
